Talia Dalton lives her life on cruise control. Despite her successful career as a professor, she prefers protecting her broken heart to taking chances. She’s calm, cool, collected, and steady. Until the morning she takes her eyes off that familiar road and almost runs over the sexiest man she’s ever seen. It may not be the best way to start the day, but it might be the type of shake-up she needs.
Male dancer Derek Grant has goals, and nothing is going to get in the way of achieving them. As a graduate student and the sole caretaker of his ailing father, he hasn’t much time for relationships. Then Talia crashes into his life. Sweet, pretty—and so buttoned-up that he can’t wait to help her cut loose.
For Derek, falling in love was a beautiful accident waiting to happen. And it might be exactly what Talia needs—if she’s willing to let go of the past and embrace every surprise Derek has to offer.

Talia would best be described as a cautious, straight laced woman who doesn’t have time to focus on men. When she first runs into Derek – almost literally – she takes one look at him and is thrown. There are so many issues with her attraction to him but she can’t deny that his eyes capture her attention and stick in her mind. Derek has never been so instantly attracted to any woman in his life, but Talia is the perfect picture of femininity; everything about her draws him to her side. She is understandably hesitant to let anything happen between them because of ghosts in her past but even with her trust issues she can’t stay away.
The connection these two characters have is so sweet you can almost taste it as you read this book. Both of them have ‘issues’ as to why they haven’t been pursuing relationships but you know from the very beginning that they’re connection is far more than just lust. I think my favorite part of this book though is just the way Derek is so patient with Talia. She has been hurt in the past and has this view of herself that is skewed because of that. Derek helps her to realize how he beautiful she is and it is just the sweetest thing I’ve read in a while. This book is available through Kindle Unlimited – which I know might be a swaying point to some who are on the fence if they want to read it. However, as is expected with Melissa Foster books, you will be so in love with the characters that you’ll go out and buy it anyway! It’s not a very long book – I was able to read it in about half a day – but there is a lot packed into the pages of the story. Overall I think this is another 5 star read from this author – and this is he third in the series but it absolutely can be read as a stand-alone. You will get to catch up with the sisters who already have books out though.
Bodhi has one rule: never leave anyone behind. As a special operative, he knows that each new mission is more dangerous than the last. He’s never made a promise of forever to a woman, not even to the beautiful widow who has him tied in knots. And if there were anyone who could tempt him into putting down roots, it would be Bridgette and her adorable son.
But as his next deployment nears, they make a startling discovery. Their passion, meant only for the here and now, might already be blossoming into something more…
