SYNOPSIS

All Haley Bowman has ever wanted was her One True Love. But now, with her cousin getting married and Haley back in her small town, the pressure is on. Enter Max Gallagher: bane of Haley’s existence, her nemesis since childhood, and, unfortunately, as a local, her way in with all the guys on the Kiss List. Max wants nothing to do with love and certainly nothing to do with Haley, but he can clear the way for her to get to know the guys on the list. Of course, he wants something in return: to be made a partner in Haley’s family’s business. One kiss for relinquishing her hold-out vote on Max.

But the more time Max and Haley spend together, the clearer it is that there’s a paper-thin line between love and hate. Max will have to decide between the job he’s always dreamed of or the girl of his dreams before his fate is sealed with someone else’s kiss.

OUR THOUGHTS & REVIEW

Max and Haley are childhood rivals; they lived to torment each other and the trend continues well into their adulthood. But when Hey needs Max’s help finding her happily ever after – he jumps at the chance, knowing he can call in the favor and get the dream job he has been working towards his entire life. You can probably guess what follows – but I won’t spoil it anyway.

This is such a cute romance – all the sweetness being perfectly balanced out by all the laughs – it’s almost addicting. Once I picked this book up – I didn’t put it down until I was finished with it. The chemistry between Max and Haley is there from the beginning; the reader can guess where the book is going pretty early on, but the journey to get there is worth it. It isn’t an overly long book – in fact I’d say it qualifies as short – at about 150 pages it can be read through in an afternoon. This enemies-to-lovers trope story is a perfect choice if you’re looking for some lighthearted reading with a few hours free.

Overall, I’d give this book 4 stars. It’s cute, slightly predictable but has some funny elements thrown in; I would read it again.
