Savannah Waters never expected to ride through the Alps on the back of her rugged doctor’s Harley in pursuit of her stolen nude self-portrait, when her world was turned upside down. After sinking to rock bottom following her ex-boyfriend’s drug overdose, Savannah is dragged to jail, a nauseating intervention, and AA meetings. Finally, she is introduced to an intriguing psychiatrist who sees her as more than a patient. A trip to Europe with the gorgeous Jake would be a dream come true – were it not for the wacky gang of wealthy weirdos they’re traveling with. Europe is invigorating, the food and wine delectable and the company stimulating to say the least – but how can Savannah get closer to her dream Doc while they’re surrounded by so many people who need his curative touch? To top it all, her deeply personal (and very nude) artwork lies in wait on Isle de Brêhat, tantalizingly close to the end of her European odyssey… From the feisty pen of debut author Erin Lavan, WISH I WERE HERE is an irresistible modern-day romance that will put a smile on your face and leave you hungry for a taste of adventure.
My Thoughts

This was my first Erin Lavan read but it lived up to all my expectations. It was humorous and sweet; it was a fairly quick read too.

This follows the story of Savannah, who is a 40 year old artist. After learning of the death of her ex she goes on a bender and then ends up in jail? – that’s quite the bender! She goes to see a psychiatrist who ends up being someone more important in her life. A European vacation together can bring them closer together, but it also brings her closer to her portrait that she is desperate to have back.

This synopsis of this book makes it out to be quite a page turner and it did not let me down. The author filled this book with romance, comic relief and enough drama and action to hold my entire interest. I wasn’t sure how much I’d relate to Savannah’s character because she is a quirky artist and I’m about as far from that as can be possible; but I loved following her story. How she ended up in jail, in Europe chasing down her nude self portrait, her time with Axel, all of her story was amusing and entertaining. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good read.
