pierce meSYNOPSIS

One of the things I like best about this author’s writing is that it feels so realistic; Eloise and Gabe went to school together until he moved away.  Now – years later – he happens to run the tattoo shop that Eloise walks into to get a *ahem* personal piercing.  Talk about an awkward situation!  I don’t know that I’d be brave enough to pierce that area to begin with – but if I walked into the shop and realized an old friend/acquaintance from high school was going to do it? Negative, Ghost Rider!

I’m going to count this as a second chance romance.  Gabe had a big crush on Eloise when they were in school together – even if the feelings weren’t necessarily returned.  Their romance was a whirlwind for sure; one minute she is running from his shop and the next she is taking him to meet her parents?  Past hurts come to be revealed at the family gathering and you wonder how this couple will end up staying together.  Is it something that these two can get past or will it end up breaking them?

The characters that Simone Sowood writes are all so easy to love and get behind.  The pacing of the book was perfect – not too fast, not too slow – and the only reason you will want to put this book down is because you need to sleep.  If you haven’t had the pleasure of reading one of her books – you should fix that asap.  Such a good author – she manages to pull the reader in immediately and keep our attention through every page turn.
