Lady Arabella Danvers is happy with her life just the way it is. She is free to be herself and take care of broken and abandoned animals. Her mother is desperate for her to marry, and has decided to take things into her own hands. There is just one little problem with her plan.

Nash, the Earl of Clarendon has determined it is time to take a wife. He has selected a woman to whom he intends to propose. However, the annoying Lady Arabella has stumbled into his life at the wrong time, and in the wrong place.

But he of all people should know if Lady Arabella is involved, plans will go awry.

I absolutely loved the first book in this series ‘Seducing the Marquess‘ so when I heard this author was releasing the second book, I jumped at the chance to read it.  This author has a way of writing some characters that you don’t necessarily think should be together but you also can’t really picture them apart.
This story follows Nash, Earl of Clarendon & Lady Arabella Danvers – they know each other very vaguely through Nash’s sister.  Both of them are as stubborn as a mule and they have to work together to save each other’s reputations.
This chemistry between these two characters is so strong, and I just loved that they both went into the marriage assuming it would not be a love match – since they were kind of thrown together and the norm of the time was not for there to be love at the forefront of marriages.  I think I’ve mentioned before how big of a fan of historical romances I am and Callie Hutton does not disappoint.  The way she writes makes me feel like I am a member of society in that time.  There were a few comedic moments to break up the serious feel, the romance was very spicy, and the ending was just exactly what I was hoping for.  This is the second book in a series but you only briefly catch up with characters from the first one, so this can absolutely be read as a standalone.
Callie Hutton, the USA Today bestselling author of The Elusive Wife writes both Regency and western historical romance, with “historic elements and sensory details” (The Romance Reviews). Callie lives in Oklahoma with several rescue dogs and her top cheerleader husband of many years. Her family also includes her daughter, son, and daughter-in-law, and twin grandsons “The Twinadoes.”
