I hadn’t previously read any of the books in the O’Brien series because this one can be read as a standalone. That being said I can’t wait to go back and read the previous books; I love reading a series that is based on a large family so I can grow with the family.
This book follows Erin (Wren) O’Brien, who grew up with 6 brothers. She was loud, foul-mouthed, independent and opinionated. Evan Jonah comes into her dealership and she instantly caught his eye. The two of them have instant lust and attraction but over time a friendship develops. He doesn’t seem like he’d be a good match for Wren because he is a softer, quieter man but when her past comes up he realizes that he has a fierce protectiveness in him.
I hadn’t read any of Cecy Robson’s books but I am a fan. The way she wrote Wren’s character was very relatable and I might’ve developed a girl crush on her. She is such a strong woman who stands her ground. She was such a caring woman who just wanted to help out where she could. I loved how Evan and her interacted; the way he stood by her while she was doing with the drama from her past. I’ve never personally been in a situation like that but imagining myself in Wren’s shoes made me nervous; I couldn’t handle being in her shoes. This isn’t one of those predictable stories that has only happy moments and an ending you could guess. It will keep you as the reader on your toes the whole time. I can’t wait to read her other works!
