Blood of the Drakon #1
Publication Date: December 5, 2016
My Rating: 4 Stars
Genres: Adult, Entangled: Otherworld, Paranormal Romance
Synopsis: Darius Varkas is a drakon. He’s neither human nor dragon.
He’s also the target of an ancient order who want to capture all drakons for their blood. When fresh, a drakon’s blood can cure any illness and prolong a human’s life, and the Knights will stop at nothing to get it.
When librarian Sarah Anderson stumbles across a rare book belonging to the Knights of the Dragon, she’s quickly thrust into a dangerous world of secrets and shifters and things she never would have believed possible. When the Knights realize Sarah has a secret of her own, she becomes just as much a target as Darius. Her scary dragon shifter just might be her best chance at survival.
My Review: When I pick my shifter romances to read, dragons are not usually at the top of my list. They just haven’t ever really been my fancy, almost seeming too paranormal (if that even makes sense?). That being said I really liked this book. I was a brand new, inexperienced reader when it came to N.J. Walters. You know how sometimes it takes a chapter to two to really get invested in the book, well not in this case. This author managed to catch my attention in the beginning. I am a huge fan of books that are told from both viewpoints (or possibly more than two depending on how many characters are essential to the plot) and this one switched back and forth between quite a few people. I loved being able to see the thought process that Darius and Sarah both went through over the same situation.
The chemistry between Sarah and Darius was so intense that we knew they were going to end to together – that sexual tension was going to have to get resolved some how. And when they did get together? Good gracious that was steamy. I really enjoyed their interactions between the other characters too, and I cannot wait to delve deeper into the other dragon brothers lives. The book didn’t end with a big cliffhanger but there was definite hinting at a series continuation; if not I may be a tad bit upset as I want to meet the 4th brother. If the author manages to keep the momentum up, and the future books are as good as this one, then it will be a great paranormal series to read!
