Brief Synopsis
Avery Sparks has everything in her life together. She is the fire chief in her hometown of Chance; because of that she is always ready to handle emergency situations. That comes in handy when living in tornado central. Jake Mitchell is widely known for his disaster relief efforts all over the country, while working with the National Guard. When a severe tornado hits their hometown, these two get thrown together. And when these two are together, it’s easy to forget how in control of their lives they usually are. There is chemistry, there is drama, and there is no way you’re going to want to put this book down.

My Thoughts
This book was full of sweet moments. Avery & Jake grew up together so we’ve got a lot of history between these two. Things didn’t end well while they were younger but Jake really works hard in order to gain ground back with Avery. She grew up not feeling like she mattered to anyone and so Jake wants her to feel cherished, important. The steps he takes to make this happen show his dedication, but Avery can’t figure out if he wants to help her out because he cares for her or because he cares about saving people. This book has plenty of excitement that will have you on the edge of your seat; you’ll want to read until you finish. Both main characters are stubborn; everyone around them can see how they feel but they cannot come to terms with it. It was nice to see the two of them come to terms with how they feel each other. I love how the author shows their growth; I love how she adds in the character inner dialogue so we can see the thought process. Avery has some hilarious conversations in her head. But’s it’s always funny when she gets to the conclusion we were all hoping for. The second book in this series is set to come out in January 2017 and I’ve already marked it as ToBeRead on Goodreads 🙂
